COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ADD SEXUAL ORIENTATION
On August 8 the Board of County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County reaffirmed the Affirmative Action Plan adopted in 1981 and added sexual orientation to its description. Under the new ruling, the Board of County Commissioners will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, na-
tional origin, age, handicap, or sexual orientation.
Moved by Commissioner Virgil Brown and seconded by Commissioner Mary Boyle, the resolution passed unanimously:
In 1976 Cleveland Heights City Council passed a similar resolution. Governor Richard Celeste, by executive order, proclaimed such a policy for the state government.
EMMANUEL MIDWEEK MEETINGS
The Greater Cleveland lesbian/gay community and all other interested people are invited to Emmanuel Community Christian Church's Midweek Alternative. Midweek Meetings are held each Wednesday at the Civic (west wing) 3130 Mayfield Road Cleveland Heights, at 7:30 p.m. The schedule for September is as follows:

ACA SUPPORT GROUP
An ACA support group for lesbian and gay adults whose parents were alcoholic has begun meeting at the Lesbian/Gay Community Center.

Children growing up in family with one or both parents alcoholic usually have very similar problems that continue into adult life. Focused in emotions and relationships with others, these problems originated in the chaotic moods of the alcoholics. They tend to persist whether or not the alcoholic is still drinking or the person still lives as
part of the family.
Originally an Al-Anon ACA group, it has expanded its format to include ideas from another national organizationfor the children of alcoholics.
Meetings are held Saturday mornings at the Lesbian/Gay Community Center, 2100 Fulton. They usually run from 9:45 to 11 a.m. Between five and 10 persons attend, rather evenly balanced brtween women and men.

YOUTH GROUP FORMS AT U. AKRON
The University of Akron Gay/Lesbian Task Force has formed an educational support outreach to gay and lesbian adolescents, The Next Generation Gay and Lesbian Youth Group. Providing 3 support system and educational programs for gay and lesbian youth, the group will provide positive role models, help its members develop a sense of belonging, and combat feelings of low self-esteem. Informational discussion groups will be facilitated by adult leaders at the University.
An officially registered organization at the Univer-
sity of Akron, the Lesbian/Gay Task Force provides upto-date information on many topics for the community at large as well as the campus community. The Youth Group outreach is designed for Akron and surrounding communities.
The Next Generation Gay and Lesbian Youth Group will meet every Monday at 8 p.m. in the Elm Room of the Garaner Student Center at the University of Akron.

EMMANUEL HOLDS CEREMONY
Sunday, September 14 will be an historic day in the life of Emmanuel Community Christian Church, when the first official members of the congregation will be received in a special ceremony during the 7 p.m. worship service.
A catered dinner at 5 p.m. will precede the service. The public is invited to join the congregation at dinner. Tickets are $6.75 each. For reservations, call the church office, 226-8948, or 521-0809.
The first service of Emanuel Community Christian Church was held April 13, 1986. Since then the congregation has grown substan-
tially in numbers and spirits. Emmanuel ministers primarily within the lesbian/gay community, but all people are welcome to participate in the life of the church.
Services are usually held in Shuttee Hall of the West Shore Unitarian-Universalist Church, 20401 Hilliard Boulevard, Rocky River. The special Charter Sunday Service will be held in the church sanctuary. The church can be reached from downtown Cleveland by taking I-90 to the Hilliard Boulevard exit west; follow Hilliard 1/4 mile, and the church is on the left. All are welcome to attend.
